A short detour here passes under the tree line to Cowombat Flat, where the mighty Murray River of the Mallee and the Fleurieu Peninsula begins as a tiny alpine stream. This equates to between 550m and 800m of climbing and descending each day! Susie and I pigged out while Jackie got her stuff organized. Off to an early start today 7.00am, to beat the heat. Overall we are now at 530km and have climbed over 20,400m. We all lost a lot of weight during the trip, despite eating everything in sight I lost 7kg. It was delicious. Of course we need to be able to find them, so we take a gps waypoint and a photo as well as a bearing from a nearby landmark. Had to cross a lot of big snow drifts on the way.
